ABOUT

SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE (WASH) SOLUTIONS

We know that effective WASH interventions must be grounded in best practices and evidence-based research. At the same time they must earn community buy-in and ensure widespread participation. It can be hard to find that balance when facing project constraints, capacity gaps and tight donor timelines.

At FMC, we focus on delivering cost-effective interventions that are flexible and responsive to community and client needs. Our international team brings diverse experience from across sub-Saharan Africa, from the field to the boardroom, integrating environmental and social science to build holistic solutions.

A FEW THINGS ABOUT FMC

We know that lack of access to clean water or safe sanitation causes generational effects in communities as people suffer the devastating impacts of malnourishment and stunting. FMC was born from the desire to see children able to attend school, adults able to work and earn income, and women have more space to be leaders in their communities.

In particular, pastoralist cultures have not garnered the attention in the WASH sector that other cultures and communities have, for various reasons. This is at our peril, as pastoralists bring ancient wisdom and knowledge to the puzzle of sustainable agriculture in the modern world.

WHAT MAKES FMC DIFFERENT?

A women-led organization, FMC draws on the expertise of our associates to uniquely tailor solutions that address the needs of pastoralists in drought-affected areas of sub-Saharan Africa.

All of our work strives to be:

  • Gender sensitive

  • Environmentally responsible

  • Cost effective

  • Pro-poor

  • Flexible and responsive

  • Innovative

We believe in a better, stronger world where everyone is able to reach their full potential. WASH is a good place to start.
