Words to live by:

"If you already know what you’re going to do, why do it?"

MARIA GERTH NICULESCU

Maria brings her amazing interviewing and writing skills to FMC, creating written narratives about projects that paint a realistic and vivid picture about the realities on the ground. Through her writing, she strives to create understanding about the issues tackled within a particular community through an FMC project.

Maria works as a freelance journalist in Ethiopia – both for TV and newpapers – honing her experience with journalistic-style narratives and stories. She is fluent in French, German and English.

She has worked for both French and German international broadcasters for the past two years, mainly in English. She has worked internationally in locations such as Paris, Marseille as well as many cities in Ethiopia. Since moving to Addis Ababa, she reports on a variety of topics ranging from social, cultural to political issues.

Maria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science and a Double Master’s degree in Journalism and International Development. Coming from a very international background, she doesn’t identify with a unique culture or identity. This has spurred her drive to travel and learn new languages as sometimes, she struggles to answer questions about her cultural origins, making it difficult to define “home.”
